DuPage County Senior Services
DuPage County Senior Services offers a number of programs that facilitate an independent lifestyle for county residents, aged 60 or older, and provides information on other benefits for which seniors may qualify.
Senior Services is funded through the Illinois Department on Aging and the Northeastern Illinois Agency on Aging to serve as the designated Case Coordination Unit for DuPage County. The Unit publishes the Senior Resource Directory (Age Well DuPage), the Long Term Care Facilities Directory and the Senior Housing Directory.
Metropolitan Family Services is available to support seniors and the families who care about and for them. Metropolitan Family Services provides programs and services for older adults and family caregivers to help them better cope with the challenges and stresses of aging and of caring for an aging family member. Programs include counseling and consultation, 60+ Women’s Support Groups, in-home senior respite care and supports for grandparents raising grandchildren.
DuPage Senior Citizens Council
The DuPage Senior Citizens Council (DSCC) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer driven organization. Since 1975, DSCC has been providing a variety of programs and services to help seniors live safely in their homes and provide them the opportunity to maintain their well being. As a proud member of the Meals on Wheels Association of America, DSCC is the Meals on Wheels provider for all of DuPage County.
DuPage County Sheriff-Senior Services
Offering two programs specifically for seniors:
>> The Cell Link program provides cellular telephones to senior citizens who may not have the funds or need to purchase one. The phones are programmed to dial only 911 and cannot make or receive any other calls. All cellular 911 calls are received at the Sheriff's Office. (more information on the website)
>> Guardian is a computerized phone system that calls registered members on prearranged days and times to verify that they are okay. If the member does not respond to the telephone call by entering a four digit code on their telephone an alarm sounds and a police dispatcher will attempt to reach the member via telephone.
DuPage Housing Authority
Safe, decent and affordable housing are key elements of the mission of the DuPage Housing Authority. At the DuPage Housing Authority individuals and families are provided with rental assistance vouchers through a program funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
DuPage County Veterans Assistance Commission
The mission of the Veterans Assistance Commission of DuPage County, Illinois, is to provide emergency financial assistance to indigent veterans and their families. To seek first to understand and to improve the economic well being and quality of life for the veterans of DuPage County, who have served our country honorably, in the Armed Forces of the United States. The VAC also provides non-financial services and seeks to identify and provide for other needs that Veterans and their families may have.
DuPage Community Resource Information System (CRIS)
CRIS exists to provide a trustworthy and comprehensive basic needs resource database to DuPage County residents and agencies using current best practices in order to meet the individual and organizational 'resource database' needs in the community.
